Happy New Year! Can you believe it's 2010? We've been here almost 4 years now and next month the Olympics will take place. Even though we won't be attending any Olympic events, it's still exciting to be so close to it.
Anyway... It's a new year so Chris and I decided we'd do something new. Not so much for us, but for the kids. They've never been bowling and we thought it would be a fun family experience. We got the shoes, the lane, the balls, the ball ramp was set up and the bumpers were raised. No gutterballs for anyone and despite that, I still didn't beat my best game ever.
The kids were so into it. Owen bowled first. We helped him support the weight of the ball and place it on the ramp. He pushed and off it went. Then Ana. It was priceless. We all took turns and Owen even bowled a strike!
Halfway through though, Owen pretty much had enough. There was a mom and daughter bowling in the lane next to us. Since the balls we used were not ours per se, the daughter was using the ball that Owen preferred and that just unsettled him, despite our attempts to calm him down and explain things to him. A meltdown ensued. He didn't want to bowl anymore or ever again. Ana meanwhile, just kept on going - happily - after all, it meant she could bowl Owen's frames in addition to hers.
