Christmas this year was a nice one, helped along by the cards and gifts we got from family and friends. Thank you for thinking of us and know that each and every one of you had a special place in our hearts and thoughts. We missed you all dearly!
On Christmas Eve, all four of us went ice skating and had a great time. Owen's friend, Mason showed up as well so we enjoyed skating with him and his parents, Michelle & Tyson. Then we spent the evening with them at their house. They invited us over for wine, appetizers & cookies. The kids played together and the rest of us ate good food and enjoyed good conversation. Then we headed home to prepare for Santa's arrival. But first, we enjoyed a taste of Christmas by opening one gift each.

I guess the ride was exhausting for Ana.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care. Milk and cookies were set out for Santa by four little hands. We all cozied up in the kids' bed and read two stories, one of which was "The Night Before Christmas."
Eventually Owen & Ana fell asleep with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.
Obviously Santa figured Owen & Ana were, for the most part, good this past year since he did stop by our house! In addition to all the gifts under the tree, further proof was in the now empty (except for a few crumbs) plate of cookies and glass.
We had a nice time opening gifts and any time you have children around a lot of gifts, it all goes by too quickly. Paper gets torn and scattered and before you know it, you're buried in a sea of wrapping paper, tissue, ribbon, opened boxes, toys, clothes and those annoying twist-ties they use to hold toys inside their packages. And it didn't take long either, for things to go missing!
It was definitely a lazy day. After the present frenzy died down, we were in no hurry to restore order so we made apple pancakes, a gift from Great Grandma, which were yummy. Even Owen ate some!
Eventually we peeled off our comfy pajamas, got dressed and the four of us went out for a Chinese dinner. For dessert, we had cookies, of course.
After a bath swimming with their new fish, Owen and Ana settled down for the night with a few of their favorite new toys. Merry Christmas and to all, a good night.
Here are some extra photos - something a little exciting... a few days after Christmas we were working out in the garage putting up insulation. We had the van parked out front and the back was opened. A little bird flew in and made himself at home.
