Today was a good day. Owen enjoyed himself at the Day Out With Thomas the Tank Engine event in Squamish, BC. We got off to a good start this morning and made sure we were rain-ready. On the way up, we did get rained on here and there, but when we got to the West Coast Railway Association, it was actually quite nice out. And it stayed that way for the duration of our stay.
First up was a photo op with Sir Topham Hat. Next up, Owen got a temporary Thomas tattoo on his hand and then played with some trains. Then he visited a few boxcars with Daddy and even got to ring a bell on on
e. And for Uncle Mike, Mommy took a few photos of the Royal Hudson. It was a beautiful train.
There was a playground area with a wooden miniature train that the kids could play on and Owen tired himself out there. Next Owen and Daddy went on a miniature train ride and had a good time even though the train got derailed.
While they did that, Mommy went to the gift shop and got a few things to mark the occasion. By this time, Owen was struggling to stay awake and the last thing on our agenda was a real train ride on Thomas. That part was just ok. It could've been better. Owen fell asleep while we were waiting for our train to depart and slept for the entire 25 minute ride. The biggest disappointment with that was we only went about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile to the parking lot/train yard and back at this incredibly slow speed. We were expecting to see something more scenic... not a train junkyard. Maybe that's why they had a clown on board to distract us. Oh well. We headed home after that. It's a breathtaking drive, both ways as we drove right alongside the coast with the mountains directly on the other side. All in all, we're
glad we went, but we're also happy to be home!

it looks like you all had a good time. it's wonderful to watch your child enjoy a new experience.
i am still in awe by the breathtaking views of vancouver and it's surrounding area.
