Owen's FIRST Birthday!!

Yesterday was our little boy's 1st birthday! We can't believe one year has already gone by! Nine months was a long wait for his arrival, but it sure picks up after that!

We had a nice little party for him. After a 3 hour nap, he was ready to celebrate, especially after seeing balloons up close for the first time. We also had party hats, but after Mom accidently snapped his face with the elastic while trying to put it on, he wanted nothing to do with those. He had his first taste of Grandma M's beef stew (yum!), and afterwards cake & ice cream (yum yum!)He made a little bit of a mess, but not too bad, and the clean-up afterwards was assisted by Zoey, our dog, who happily picked up the cake crumbs & frosting that found it's way to the floor.

After that was PRESENTS! With help from Dad, Owen unwrapped his gifts. He seemed to enjoy that, and once he realized that these were new toys he was getting, his interest fired up. Aunt Christine gave him a push-n-ride scooter which he just LOVES! It has a seat that lifts up and he likes to put his new Leggos in there. In addition to fattening up his piggy bank, Owen got a Leap Pad & several books to go with it, a ball, several outfits, a sign language book with flashcards, and more coming in the mail.

Overall, it was a nice, quiet birthday. We would've loved to have our friends and more of our family over to celebrate. It means a lot to us that Grandma M & Aunt Christine could share the day with Owen. The rest of you... we know in our hearts that you wanted to be here to party with Owen. You were/are in our thoughts. Thank you for your birthday packages, cards and wishes.

This morning, Owen had his 12 month check-up at the doctors and that, of course, means shots. He was a little trooper, the poor kid. But the good news is, he's healthy. That's all that matters. We pray it stays that way. He's 29.5 inches tall and 23 lbs.

Next, is a hair cut. He needs one. We'll let you know how that goes!
